GENERAL CLUB POLICIES
Rules and Regulations
- Solicitation is prohibited without the express prior written consent of Island Health and Fitness, LLC (the "Club") management.
- Infection Control: Exercise in close contact with other members may put you at risk of contracting viruses (i.e. COVID-19) and other infectious skin and respiratory diseases. The Club is not responsible for member illnesses. We strongly advise any members with underlying health problems, that may be susceptible to complications from an illness, to please wear a mask, obtain all appropriate vaccines, use social distancing, wash hands routinely and wipe machines down before use to help keep themselves safe. If you are sick or feel like you are coming down with a cold, we ask that you follow the CDC guidelines for quarantine and avoid exposing other members.
- The club is for members only. Members are not allowed to bring guests into the gym to work out or try equipment without signing up first. Guests interested in viewing the club before signing up must schedule a visit during staffed hours. Members that bring guests into the club after staffed hours will be charged a $50 penalty fee to their account and subject to membership termination.
- Only annual members are allowed to bring member guests after staffed hours.
- It is required that each member scan their own member key card at the front door and front desk each time you enter the Club's facilities. If your card is declined, you are not allowed to use the Club equipment or amenities unless management verifies that your account is active, and all fees are paid. Remember, the key card issued to you is for your personal use ONLY. You understand and accept that a $50 charge to your account will be assessed if you violate this rule. Opening the door after hours for nonmembers to use the club is never permitted. (Allowing another person to use your card is grounds for immediate termination of your membership.)
- There is a $10.00 replacement fee for all lost or stolen key fobs.
- For the privacy of each member, photography, social media posting, and video recording are NOT permitted inside Island Health and Fitness without prior written consent from management. This includes all forms regardless of the medium, including but not limited to, still photos, video, polaroid, cell phone, or any other device used to record images.
- Please leave all valuables at home or in a safe place outside of the fitness center. The Club implements security cameras but is not responsible for lost or stolen items. The club offers a nonsecure cubby storage area but for your safety, do not leave your keys or personal items where you cannot personally guarantee their security.
- Clothing, bags and other personal items are not permitted on the gym floors or any other general common area inside the Club. All items must be placed in the front gym cubby holes or secured outside of the facility.
- For gripping weights, we recommend lifting gloves or wraps. Chalk is not allowed into the facility or to be used on any gym equipment.
- Plastic bottles are permitted anywhere in the Club for drinking. Please keep our space clean and throw away your empty containers. Due to safety concerns, glass containers are not permitted. No food is allowed in the fitness areas and should be kept outside the workout areas.
- Only designated trainers approved by the Club management may train, coach or otherwise instruct clients, guests or members at any time. Virtual trainers operating their business in the club is not permitted. All trainers will require written consent of the Club management. Members shall not act as a trainer or physical therapist for any other members or guests and any acts which constitute such business activities are strictly forbidden.
- The Club does not offer childcare facilities and minors under the age of 13 are not permitted in the fitness areas, are not allowed to use the exercise equipment and are not allowed in the club unattended. The club does not offer memberships to minors under age 13 and any member allowing minors (nonmembers) into the club will be subject to membership suspension or termination at the management discretion.
- Minors ages 13-18 may become members with approval of the management and are not allowed in the club without a parent or guardian family member supervision at all times. Before becoming a member, the minor will require an introduction course by our staff before using the equipment. Also, the minor will not receive a club access card and cannot use the adult family member card to access the club alone.
- As a member, you are expected to obey all instructions properly issued by the Club's staff and management. Should you wish to discuss a particular situation after the fact, please feel free to contact our Club Manger to discuss your concerns further. Failure to comply with the Club's rules, regulations and policies may result in the club staff asking a member to leave the facility and may result in immediate termination of your membership.
- Should a member fail to comply with the rules, regulations, and polices of the Club, the Club reserves the right to cancel a member's membership without advance notice, and without refund of payments made by the Member, or cancellation of any remaining contractual payments due by the Member to the Club.
- Smoking, vaping or the use of other tobacco products is strictly prohibited inside the Club's facilities. This restriction includes, but is not limited to, cigarettes, pipes, cigars, snuff, chewing tobacco, marijuana products, vaping devices, and any other form of illegal substance. The Club is committed to a healthy environment, and we appreciate your adherence to these guidelines.
- Member agrees that he/she shall not engage in any type of commercial or business activity while using the facilities. Including but not limited to selling items, training members without written consent or advertising their business.
- Members are not allowed to enter the facility intoxicated. Operating fitness equipment while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited and is subject to membership cancellation.
- Members must keep items such as bicycles, scooters, skateboards, hoverboards, and other forms of electric transportation outside the facility.
Equipment and Training Areas
- Please remain courteous to other member and staff at all times. Profanity, insults and sexual misconduct is never permitted inside the Club's facilities.
- Only music playing in the cub approved by Island Health and Fitness management is permitted. Playing personal audio (such as music, videos, phone conversations, talk shows, etc.) in the gym with speakers is disruptive to other members and not permitted. All members are required to use headphones while listening to personal audio selections.
- Please allow others to share equipment while you are resting between sets. Reserving multiple pieces of equipment at the same time during an exercise routine preventing others from accessing equipment is not permitted.
- Sitting on exercise equipment to use your smart phones or other electronic devices is not permitted. This prevents other members from using the equipment. We ask members using their devices to sit in the front lobby sitting areas. The club staff will advise members to adhere to this policy.
- To keep our equipment operational for all members, please report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to our staff immediately. To prevent injury, do not attempt to adjust or fix equipment that has malfunctioned.
- Rack all weights and dumbbells after each use. Dropping or slamming of weights may injure you, other patrons and/or the facility and will not be tolerated. Please also note that you will be held responsible for damages incurred as a result of careless or destructive actions. The Club reserves the right to draft the amount due to complete repairs at any time.
- Outside equipment such as jump ropes, yoga mats or exercise bands may be used for your personal use only and must be approved by the club staff. All personal items must be removed from the facility after your daily exercise and are not allowed to be stored overnight, Also, do not remove weights from the gym exercise areas and the club equipment is not allowed outside the fitness facility under any circumstances.
- Always use a spotter when using free weights. Collars and clips are to be used for "free bar" lifting. Keep hands away from all moving parts and weight stacks. Do not leave weights on bars after using without putting them back on the designated racks so the next members can use.
- Always clean equipment after use. In areas there are wipe dispensers designated for wiping machines down. Please use your workout towel to wipe off equipment.
- The use of the fitness centers radio controls, central TVs controls and air conditioning thermostats are only controlled by the gym staff. All doors in the fitness center must remain closed for security and for climate humidity control.
BASIC RULES FOR DRESS
- For your protection, only athletic shoes must be worn on the gym floor at all times, and in all workout areas. Open toed shoes, high heel shoes and flip flops are not permitted.
- Clothing that may injure you or damage equipment is never permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, jeans, belt buckles, loose or dangling jewelry.
- Shirts are required at all times. Working out or posing in front of mirrors without clothing is not permitted. Sweatshirts, t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, tank tops and workout bras are all considered acceptable attire.
- All shorts must be long enough to cover the buttocks at all times. This includes times that you're bending, stretching, running, etc.
